• Priority Service and Hospitality Supervisor

We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with and represent many high profile wineries, and appreciative clients  in our region,  with our quality driven food and service philosophies. Our intimate team is searching for a priority service and hospitality team member for this season, and the future at Backyard Farm Chef’s Table as well as Artisan Culinary Concepts private chef services and catering. This position is available for an experienced candidate, with an interest in high end, quality driven culinary services and celebrating food and wine culture in our beautiful region. The successful candidate will be scheduled with priority for the majority of our bookings and events, and can expect to work 3-5 days per week, evenings and weekends during peak season, with occasional afternoon events. This position is suitable for applicants with serving experience, and all applicants must possess “Serving it Right” Certification. We are happy to train to our standards, as attitude and demeanor are much more important than high end service experience. “Foodsafe” level 1 is an asset, as well as wine education training , and tasting room experience, however genuine interest in what our beautiful wine region has to offer is a must. Contrary to many seasonal hospitality positions, you will be working in a minimal stress environment, within a very respectful, supportive, educational, and professional workplace culture, with direct supervision.  We understand and appreciate the importance of every role within our business, and base our incentives accordingly. Hourly wage compensation is based on experience, and includes gratuities, as well as on-shift menu pairings. This seasonal position is from March-January(10 months), and we prefer to hire someone who is interested in a long term position within our exclusive hospitality team. The Backyard Farm Team is looking for a dedicated and detail oriented candidate to fulfill the position of Culinary Services Manager and Administration Assistant starting in the 2018 season. As we have steadily increased in business volume, this is a full time, year round* position for the right candidate. We are looking for a dynamic individual who possesses  great communication skills, as well as hospitality industry experience, as well as a true passion for food and wine in our region. This progressive position is available long term with lots of potential for growth, and learning in the culinary and wine tourism industry.  Backyard Farm is now heading into its 5th season, with a wealth of  future “development” possibilities in the foreseeable future both on-site, and for our offsite catering and private chef services.

Experience with Microsoft Office, as well as working with Mac is an asset, but we are happy to “train to suit” in our systems. We are also interested in increasing our Social Media, Marketing and Public Relations presence, preference will be given to those who may have experience and interest in these platforms.

The chosen applicant will work very closely with Chef Chris Van Hooydonk regarding any potential events and bookings, as well as attend event co-ordinating meetings directly with clients. The culinary service manager responsibilities will also include:

  • Bi-Weekly Payroll Calculations and Source Deductions, as well as Gratuity Calculations

  • Assisting Chef in organizing schedules and business appointments when necessary

I believe it is to the benefit of our clients that this important role in our business should be the first, and last contact during the booking process. In order to facilitate full time hours, this position will include being the “Lead Server” for the majority of our events.

This position is available April, 2018. Wage compensation is based upon experience, and negotiable.
